Horse Riding
They say that happiness lies in the back of a horse. What could be more beautiful than exploring a country from horseback? In Arab countries, it is customary to ride stallions exclusively, and Morocco is no exception. Equi Evasion is a professional and exemplary riding stable, and the horses are well-balanced and easy to ride. Nevertheless, they are stallions with plenty of temperament. Very good riding skills are therefore required for this retreat.
If you are confident handling a spirited horse in any situation, have the stamina for four days of riding, and are fit enough for long stretches of cantering and galloping, then this retreat will truly be heaven on earth for you.
This retreat is suitable for riders from Level 5 onwards: Advanced.
Riding time per day: approx. 2–5.5 hours
Most of the horses at Equi Evasion are Arab-Berber crosses, with a height of approximately 145–160 cm at the withers.
Maximum rider weight: 80 kg
Helmets are mandatory.
Luggage Transport
Your luggage (suitcase, backpack or bag) will be transported by car by Equi Evasion.
For the riding tour, you’ll be provided with a saddlebag where you can store everything you need for the day, including your picnic, water, clothing, sun protection and small personal items.
Your Guide
I’m Catherine, your guide and yoga teacher for this Riding & Yoga Retreat. My love of horses is as old as I am, and connecting with these beautiful animals has always been an important part of my life.
I have been practising yoga since 2000 and have completed more than 800 hours of yoga teacher training, mostly in India. I am also a certified Shiatsu therapist and coach. Since 2013, I have regularly led retreats both at home and abroad, and I love sharing my passion for riding and yoga with others.
In my work, I place particular importance on the individual needs and personal development of each participant. Travelling, being in nature and discovering special places fill me with a great sense of excitement and joy. For me, the “energy” of a place has to feel right. And it does at every stage of this Riding & Yoga Retreat.
Let the 1001 Nights begin!
Your Guide & Yoga Teacher: Alissa
My name is Alissa. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Since childhood, riding has been a constant part of my everyday life, shaping me not only as a rider but also as a person. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience and developed a deep understanding of horses, as well as a calm, confident and conscious approach to riding.
What fascinates me most is the connection between horse, human and nature – the feeling of travelling together, stripping life back to what truly matters and being fully present in the moment. These experiences have repeatedly led me to special places around the world. My experience guiding trail rides and working intensively with horses in a variety of environments has further deepened my connection to horses, nature and mindful travel.
For me, yoga is the perfect complement to riding. Both practices cultivate presence, body awareness, clarity and inner calm. In my classes, I combine dynamic Vinyasa flows with gentle, restorative sequences. This creates a balanced practice that develops strength, stability and flexibility while also encouraging relaxation and a subtle awareness of the body – with a particular focus on the needs of riders.
During the Riding & Yoga Retreats, I accompany you as both your riding and yoga guide. This creates a holistic experience that invites you to rediscover yourself through movement and stillness – in connection with the horses, nature and a clear, mindful presence.
Food
During the retreat, we’ll enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine. Vegetarian options are available at every meal. We’re happy to accommodate your personal dietary preferences and requirements as much as possible, but we need to know about them before the retreat.

In addition, we have five smaller tents that you can book for yourself or share with your companion. If you have booked a single room, you will automatically have a private tent as well. These tents are 1.8 m high, 2 m wide and 2.5 m long, and are also equipped with mattresses, pillows and blankets.
There is a toilet tent, but no showers are available. Instead, we’ll have a breathtaking starry sky above us. And who knows – perhaps a curious camel or two might even stop by the horses in the evening…
Essaouira – Villa Maroc
To round off our retreat, we’ll treat ourselves to a truly unforgettable stay at Villa Maroc. The rooms are beautifully decorated in traditional Moroccan style and feature either a shower or a bathtub.
The highlight is the stunning rooftop terrace overlooking the Atlantic, where we’ll also enjoy breakfast. The hotel also has a traditional hammam offering a range of treatments and massages.
