Reiding level

We offer retreats for all riding levels – whether you've been in the saddle for years, have just discovered your love for horses, or are a solid recreational rider. There's something for everyone.

Each retreat listing shows "from level xy", which indicates the approximate riding level required for that trip. Riders with a higher level are of course welcome too.

1 – Complete beginner: No or very little riding experience
2 – Beginner: Confident at walk, beginning to trot
3 – Intermediate: Walk, trot and canter – mainly in an arena or on calm horses
4 – Advanced intermediate: Walk, trot and canter on trails as well. Prefers calm, reliable horses.
5 – Advanced: Confident at walk, trot and canter on trails and varied terrain. Comfortable with spirited horses.
6 – Expert: Competition or training background, confident and capable on any horse in any terrain.

Note on riding breaks: If you haven't ridden for a while, please rate yourself one or more levels lower than your previous level, depending on your current riding fitness. A break of several years typically means a noticeable decline in balance, reaction time and overall security – even if the foundational experience is still there.
