Morocco Atlantic Horseback Adventure
5 Day Ride

Finally, the time has come: We are extending the Atlantic Ride and setting off on a five-day horseback riding adventure (without yoga), one day longer than the Ride & Yoga Retreats, with even more time in the saddle and even more cantering along deserted sandy beaches.

This ride will be accompanied by Joanna, horseback riding tour guide and photographer/videographer. You can look forward to an extensive photographic documentation of this unique journey. If the conditions and our schedule allow, we will also dedicate one evening to canter photos on the beach, capturing a wonderful sunset on the west coast.

Your 1001 Nights adventure begins in Marrakech or Agadir, where you will be picked up at the airport and taken to our first overnight accommodation: dreamy domes right by the sea, where you can watch the sun sink into the Atlantic from the terrace. This is where our adventure begins: five unforgettable days on horseback along Morocco’s impressive Atlantic coast, all the way to Essaouira. Every day, endless beaches await you for wonderful cantering stretches, with attentive and energetic Arabian-Berber stallions beneath you, followed by evenings in lovingly prepared camps under a sparkling starry sky.

After the ride, you can relax in a comfortable, traditional riad and have a whole extra day to discover the charming coastal town of Essaouira before heading home, relaxed, inspired and full of unforgettable memories.

Program

Day 1 - Arrival & Welcome

You will travel individually via Agadir* or Marrakech**, where you will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to our first accommodation on the Atlantic coast. As the sun slowly sets, we will meet at 6:30 pm for a warm welcome and our first dinner together.

Over delicious local dishes, we will get to know each other, soak up the magic of our new surroundings and receive a briefing on the exciting week ahead. Tired from the journey and full of anticipation, we will eventually retreat to our cosy rooms, ready to begin our coastal riding adventure the next morning.

Individual arrival in Agadir or Marrakech.
Pick-up times:

• Agadir* (transfer 1.5h): Airport 3:30 pm, city 4:00 pm

• Marrakech** (transfer 5.5h): City 11:00 am, airport 11:30 am

We recommend landing in Agadir / Marrakech approximately 3 hours before the scheduled pick-up time. If you miss the pick-up time, you will need to arrange a taxi at your own expense. Due to the long transfer, we recommend arriving one day earlier, especially if travelling via Marrakech. Hotel recommendations will be provided after registration.

Day 5 - Coastal Ride to Sidi Kaouki

The fifth day reveals a fascinating landscape along the Atlantic coast all the way to Sidi Kaouki. Wonderful cantering stretches along untouched beaches and spectacular cliffside trails take us to Sidi M’Barek, where a small waterfall and vast sand dunes await us, making for an unforgettable experience.

Here in Sidi M’Barek, we take a break for a delightful picnic, accompanied by the sound of the ocean. In the afternoon, we continue our ride and eventually reach Sidi Kaouki, our final camp on this unforgettable horseback riding adventure.

Day 8 - Relax at the Pool, Surf & Discover Essaouira

Today is all yours. Explore Essaouira at your own pace. With no fixed plans, you can savour a leisurely breakfast, wander through the winding streets of the medina or simply let the sea breeze guide you.

We have plenty of tips for your day: a traditional hammam or a wellness treatment to soothe tired riding muscles, shopping for treasures in the colourful souks or an early visit to the bustling fish market at the harbour, when the boats return with the morning’s catch. However you choose to spend your day, this is the perfect moment to let the journey sink in and enjoy the magic of this coastal town one last time. In the evening, we meet for one final dinner together.

Day 9 - Breakfast and Departure

After one last relaxed breakfast, it is time to say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to the airport, where your individual journey home begins.

With sand still between your toes, the echo of hoofbeats in your ears and countless impressions of Morocco’s Atlantic coast in your heart, you set off on your journey home, perhaps already dreaming of your next adventure.

HORSE RIDING

The happiness of the earth lies on the backs of horses, and what could be more beautiful than discovering a country from horseback? In many Arab countries, it is customary to ride stallions exclusively, and Morocco is no different. Equi Evasion is an exemplary riding stable whose horses are well-balanced, attentive and enjoyable to ride. Nevertheless, they are spirited stallions with their own personalities.

Very good riding skills are therefore essential for this retreat. If you are able to safely control even a sensitive, energetic horse in any situation, have the stamina for several long days in the saddle and are fit enough for a kilometre-long canter along the beach, then this trip will be nothing less than heaven on earth for you.

This retreat is suitable for riders at Level 5 and above: Advanced: Confident at walk, trot and canter in the countryside and across different types of terrain. Able to handle spirited horses.

Daily riding time: 3.5–5.5 hours

Most of Equi Evasion’s horses are Arabian-Berber crosses with a height at the withers of between 145 and 155 cm. The maximum rider weight is 80 kg, and wearing a riding helmet is mandatory at all times.

LUGGAGE TRANSPORT

Your main luggage (suitcase, backpack or travel bag) will be transported by Equi Evasion in a support vehicle.

For the ride, you will be provided with a saddlebag in which you can store everything you need for the day, including your picnic, water, extra clothing, sun protection and small personal items.

FOOD

During the retreat, we enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine. Vegetarian options are available at every meal. We are happy to accommodate personal dietary preferences as far as possible, but these must be communicated to us at the time of registration.

ACCOMMODATION

During our time together, we embrace a true nomadic lifestyle, changing accommodation almost every day. During the ride, we sleep in simple but cosy tents equipped with surprisingly comfortable foam mattresses.

Timlalin Domes

Our first accommodation is Timlalin Domes, a unique and sustainable place promising unforgettable overnight stays. With their distinctive design and breathtaking views across the desert and the Atlantic, they offer far more than an ordinary hotel stay and provide the perfect introduction to the adventure ahead.

Camping during the Ride

During the horseback riding tour, we stay in traditional Berber tents equipped with mattresses, pillows and blankets, each accommodating four to six people. In addition, five smaller tents are available, which you can use on your own or share with your companion (if you have booked a single room, you will automatically receive your own tent as well). These tents are 1.8 m high, 2 m wide and 2.5 m long and are also furnished with mattresses, pillows and blankets.

A separate toilet tent is available, but we will have to do without showers. In return, a breathtaking starry sky awaits us above. Perhaps one or two curious camels will even come by to visit the horses in the evening ...

We spend the fourth night at the home of a local family in Sidi Ahmed Essayeh, where we share three simple rooms (or perhaps the most adventurous among us will even sleep on the rooftop terrace?). We enjoy our meals on the rooftop terrace, with stunning views of the Atlantic and the surrounding dunes. It is simple accommodation that also gives you an insight into how Moroccan families live here.

Sidi Kaouki - Rebali Riads

Rebali Riads is located in a quiet side street in Sidi Kaouki. The beach, restaurants and cafés are just a two-minute walk away, yet the property is far removed from the hustle and bustle. We stay in two villas on the grounds, each with its own pool. The property also features a spacious garden, a hammam and spa, as well as a tennis court.

For this retreat, you can choose between two villas.

2-Bedroom Villa

This two-storey villa overlooking the main pool features two en-suite bedrooms, accessible from the gallery. At its centre is a three-storey dining area with a remote-controlled sliding glass roof. There is a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and a living room with a fireplace and TV.
The master suite features a private terrace and an en-suite bathroom with a marble bathtub, double shower and double washbasin. The second bedroom opens onto a terrace and has an en-suite shower room with a double washbasin.
Outside, you will find a private garden with sun loungers and a dining table, as well as a gate leading to the large pool. A staircase leads to the first-floor terrace and continues up to the private rooftop terrace with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views.

If you share a double room with someone, it is always possible to separate the beds.

5-Bedroom Villa

The largest of the Rebali Riads is built around three interconnected courtyards and features four suites and one smaller bedroom. On the ground floor, there is a gallery-style, three-storey dining area separated from the kitchen by a 360-degree fireplace. The dining area has a remote-controlled sliding glass roof. An arched passageway from the dining room, with a wardrobe and shower room, leads to a courtyard with fruit trees, bistro tables and a decorative fountain. On the other side of this courtyard is the main living room with a TV and fireplace, as well as a small bedroom. Large double doors from the courtyard also lead to a covered loggia that extends along the dining room and opens onto the pool courtyard.

The private swimming pool (7 x 5 m) is enclosed on three sides, creating a sunny retreat, with a dining and sun terrace on one side. The private garden can be accessed from the pool courtyard or the living room and features another sun terrace with loungers, as well as a gate leading to the hammam and communal gardens. A staircase from the pool area also leads to the first-floor terrace and continues up to the rooftop terrace with beautiful views and seating areas.

The four suites are located on the first floor and all have private terrace access and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and double washbasins (the beds can be separated). Two master suites feature four-poster beds (the beds cannot be separated), marble bathtubs and double showers.

INSURANCE AND TERMS & CONDITIONS

Your place on the retreat is definitively reserved with a deposit of CHF 900 or €900. This amount is non-refundable if you cancel your participation. The remaining balance is due no later than six months before the start of the retreat. The General Terms and Conditions of Reiten & Yoga apply.

We recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance that may cover the contractually stipulated cancellation costs, if applicable. If you do not already have travel cancellation insurance, we recommend the one offered by Allianz. You can use it to insure any retreat of your choice. Registration

1. Fill out the form below in full.

2. Click on “SUBMIT”.

3. You will then receive an email with the deposit payment details. If you haven’t received an email, please check your spam folder. If you can’t find it there either, send us an email at hello@reitenundyoga.ch. Your place will be reserved for you for 7 days after registration.

4. We check all deposit payments every Wednesday. Once we have received your deposit, we will contact you with all the further information. If we have not received your deposit within 7 days of your registration, we will release your place.

Waiting List

If the retreat is already fully booked, you will see the note “Waiting List” next to the date. To join the waiting list, fill out the form and submit it. You will then receive an email informing you that the retreat is fully booked but that you are on the waiting list. If a place becomes available, we will contact you immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot say in advance whether or when a place will become available.

The retreat will take place in all weather conditions and with a minimum of six participants. In the event of very poor weather, the route may need to be changed.
