Program
Day 1
Your retreat begins in Reykjavík, where we meet at the BSÍ Bus Station and set off together on our Golden Circle tour. Today, you will experience some of the most breathtaking sights in southern Iceland: Þingvellir National Park, the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, and one of the island’s largest geysers. After an eventful day, we arrive at the farm, where you can settle into your cosy room. Following dinner, we take a stroll to the horses in the midnight sun and end the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
10:00 AM – Meeting point in Reykjavík and departure for the Golden Circle tour
7:00 PM – Arrival at the farm
8:00 PM – Dinner
Day 2
Rise and shine, enjoy breakfast, and head to the horses! Because, honestly – aren’t we all here for the Icelandic horses? After an introduction to Icelandic riding techniques and some first guidance on the tölt, it’s time to get into the saddle. During an instructional ride, you’ll get to know your horse and the surrounding landscape.
After lunch, you’ll have some time to yourself. Perhaps you’ve had a busy and stressful period and simply want to unwind – whether in nature, with a good book, or in pleasant company. In the afternoon, we come together for a meditation session with the horses, followed by a relaxing yoga class. We then end the day with a shared dinner.
8:00 AM – Breakfast
9:00 AM – Meet the horses, introduction to Icelandic riding techniques including guidance on the tölt, followed by our first group ride

Day 3
After breakfast, we head to the stables for our first full-day ride. By now, you’ll understand why so many people keep coming back to Iceland! We leave the horses in a corral and return to the farm, where a light refreshment awaits us. Afterwards, you’ll have time to relax before we meet again for yoga.
In modern life, movement often takes a back seat – our bodies become stiff and tense, and we feel this in the saddle as well. The yoga sessions during this retreat are specifically designed to address these issues. You’ll learn targeted asanas (physical postures) that will help improve your seat and increase your flexibility.
After a delicious dinner, you’ll fall into bed feeling pleasantly tired, fulfilled, and completely refreshed.

9:30 AM – Start of our full-day ride with a picnic lunch
4:30 PM – Tea, coffee & snacks
5:30 PM – Yoga session

Day 4
Feeling refreshed from the past few days, we begin another day of adventure after breakfast. We start by warming up with a pre-ride yoga session right beside the horses before setting off in the saddle to discover another beautiful part of Iceland.
At midday, we reach the horses’ resting point. After a leisurely picnic, we head out on a short hike that takes us to prehistoric caves and then to the charming town of Hella. There, we spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing in a local geothermal pool, soothing our muscles and enjoying the comforting warmth before returning to the farm for dinner.

Another wonderful day in the saddle awaits you! The silence of nature invites you to take a deep breath and be fully present in the moment. With every step, you become more connected to your horse and the breathtaking Icelandic landscape.
Today marks our final full-day ride before we eventually return to the stables and say goodbye to our faithful companions. It is a special moment, filled with gratitude for the time we have shared together.
After a light refreshment and a soothing yoga session, we end the day with a cosy dinner together.

After a picnic on the beach and our closing ceremony, we return to Reykjavík in the afternoon and drop you off at your hotel. Your Guide - Debbie
I’m Debbie, originally from Bavaria, Germany, and I love animals, nature, and yoga. My love for horses practically began while I was still in my mother’s womb! I grew up with horses and cherish every moment spent in the company of these incredible animals. They are my wise teachers, and with them I find comfort, passion, and joy. Being in the saddle gives me a unique sense of connection and freedom, and what I love most is sharing this feeling with others.
Meeting and connecting with different people means a great deal to me. I believe that we can learn so much with and from one another. That’s why my connection with people inspires me just as much as my connection with animals.
Yoga with Debbie
In 2018, I also discovered my love for yoga and began my first teacher training in 2020. During that time, I had the opportunity to explore the many different facets of yoga and experience the profound impact it can have. The decision to continue on this path came naturally to me, and I quickly realised that I wanted to share what I had learned and make yoga accessible to as many people as possible.
Since then, yoga has become a daily companion and a strong foundation in my life.
My wish is to support people in leading healthier lives on every level – physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. It is therefore very important to me that what we learn on the mat can also be applied to everyday life.
In my classes, I place great emphasis on the anatomically correct alignment of yoga postures, while also creating space for mindfulness and awareness within each pose. It is especially important to me that every participant honours their individual abilities and needs and recognises that yoga is, above all, about connection and coming into contact with yourself.
In my relationships with both people and animals, I deeply value consideration, harmony, and mutual respect. I spend a lot of time exploring relationship dynamics and how we can build deep, loving, and trusting connections based on genuine interest, patience, compassion, and understanding.
I would be delighted to accompany you on your journey and to share a part of the adventure – and the ride – together.
Level
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced yogi, the yoga classes are suitable for all levels. The small group size allows for individual attention and support tailored to your needs.
Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are provided.

Your Guide & Photographer - Joanna
I’m Joanna, a horse girl at heart for as long as I can remember and a passionate traveller. Over the past few years, I have spent around 17 months exploring the world, including many weeks and months working as a volunteer, guide, and photographer on ranches in Canada, Chile, Argentina, and Ecuador.
These experiences inspired me to create my own project, Untamed Trails, through which I share the unique riding adventures that I have personally experienced and wholeheartedly recommend – so far with a strong focus on South America.
Cat and I share a passion for extraordinary riding experiences around the world, and that’s how we met in 2025 and began working together. “Normally,” I work behind the scenes as a digital marketing specialist, making sure that Reiten & Yoga is seen and booked. In recent years, I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to accompany selected rides as a guide myself.
I’m incredibly excited to join this ride in Iceland as both your guide and photographer! For me, the joy of this experience is at the very heart of it all. If our guests are glowing with happiness in the saddle just as much as I am, then this journey has been a complete success.
Horse Riding
The greatest happiness on earth is found on the back of a horse. What could be more beautiful than exploring the diverse landscapes of southern Iceland from the saddle?
Included in the retreat are:
An introduction to Icelandic riding techniques, including guidance on riding the tölt
One instructional ride
One half-day ride
Two full-day rides
We ride from one station to the next with a hand horse. This means that the horses remain at each overnight location while we return to the farm by car.
This retreat is designed for experienced riders, as we will be riding longer stretches at both tölt and canter. Previous experience with the tölt is not required – you will learn it during the retreat.
Iceland has clear and strict regulations regarding which horse-related equipment may be brought into the country and under what conditions. After registering, you will receive a detailed list explaining which of your riding gear you can bring and the requirements for doing so. Don’t worry – there’s no need to buy everything new!
The maximum rider weight is 80 kg (176 lbs), and wearing a riding helmet is mandatory.
Accommodation at the Riding Farm
