“The perfect weekend
without a doubt. Riding and yoga - fantastic! The San Jon riding stable in the Lower Engadin couldn’t be more beautifully located. You’re warmly welcomed by both people and animals and feel at ease right away. The yoga was wonderfully tailored to the exciting riding program, allowing both body and mind to truly relax. Thanks to Catherine’s empathetic nature, the group quickly bonded. People, horses, nature, and yoga are an unbeatable combination!”

Day 1
We meet in the afternoon at the San Jon riding stable. After a warm welcome and getting to know each other, a short tour of San Jon is on the program. On your way to your room, you take a look at the clear, starry sky and look forward to an eventful day ahead.

Autumn Colors in the Engadine Valley
We are offering this ride for the first time during the very best season for golden autumn larches… Look forward to a landscape as colorful as it is only for a brief time each year.
Riding
“The greatest happiness on earth is found on the back of a horse.” There’s truth to that—especially when riding out in the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Lower Engadin. This ride is more on the relaxed side, as we will mostly travel at a walk due to the mountainous terrain. We spend around 6 hours in the saddle each day.
Thanks to daily pasture time, the horses at San Jon are very balanced and gentle, allowing both beginners and experienced riders to fully enjoy nature. The most common breed is the Swiss Freiberger, alongside others such as Haflingers, Arabians, Swiss Warmbloods, and more.
Almost all horses are trained in the classical English riding style and are ridden with a snaffle bit and a Western saddle.
The maximum rider weight is 80 kg, and wearing a helmet is mandatory.
Luggage
Back to simplicity. On this trail ride, you take with you only what fits into your saddle bags. Anything you don’t need for the ride can be left at the ranch on Saturday and picked up again on Sunday.
Your Guide: Joanna
I’m Joanna, a lifelong horse girl at heart and a passionate traveler. In total, I’ve spent around 17 months traveling the world in recent years, including many weeks and months as a volunteer, guide, and photographer on ranches in Canada, Chile, Argentina, and Ecuador.
Through these experiences, I now share with my own project “Untamed Trails” the unique rides I have personally experienced and can wholeheartedly recommend - so far with a clear focus on South America. Catherine and I share a passion for extraordinary riding experiences around the world, and that’s how we met in 2025 and began working together.
“Normally,” I work as a digital marketing specialist ensuring that our Riding & Yoga experiences are seen and booked - and by now I also have the privilege of accompanying selected rides as a guide.
I am very much looking forward to accompanying this multi-day ride in the Engadin: on this journey there will be no yoga, you will be accompanied by me as your guide and photographer. For me, the joy of the experience is at the center of everything: if the participants are smiling in the saddle just as much as I am, then this journey has been a complete success.
Accommodation
San Jon – 1st night
San Jon is a dream for all horse lovers: around 80 horses graze peacefully on lush meadows. The riding stable is located far away from any civilization, surrounded by mountains and unique nature. Here you can switch off, relax, and at night gaze at the stars, accompanied by the soft snorting of the horses.
We sleep in cozy rooms directly at the riding stable. You can choose between a single or double room with a private shower. And the best part: from every room you can see the horse pastures!
Zuort Farm – 2nd night
At Zuort Farm, we sleep in rustic rooms with double beds (single occupancy possible), where even the fox and hare wish each other good night. Shower and toilet facilities are located on the corridor. Zuort Farm is a member of Swiss Historic Hotels and features a sauna.
